NEORRURALES
In the urbanized Spain, where more than 80% of people live in cities, thousands of villages are empty. In a small Galician region, depopulated in the 50s by the construction of a reservoir, a group of people has brought life back to the province. They yearn for a sustainable model of life, reinvent the field with ambition and hard work, without repelling the new technologies or the communication tools that keep them connected to the world. The project Neorrurales by photographer Philipp Meuser and writer Cale Garrido portrays a self-managed collective experiment which is, at the same time, an homage to rural life and nature and its valuable resources.
